The work proposes a natural and social history of asbestos, that was once believed to be a ‘prodigious’ mineral and so was spread everywhere as primary material for safety and progress. But soon also its vices and perils were revealed, especially a great damage to health that has been scarcely valued or concealed for a very long time.
