Pietre vive

The Parish Church of Sant’Alessandro a Giogoli, which stands on the hills of Scandicci (Florence), is a true jewel of the Tuscan Romanesque style. The origins of the complex date back to the early 11th century: in an ancient parchment the structure is mentioned as “plebem Sancti Alexandri sitam Jugulo”. In reconstructing the events, inserted into the historical fabric of the Gregorian reform, the essay pays particular attention to documentary sources, and is accompanied by a survey of the works of art kept in the ancient building and an accurate description of its architecture.
